I am on the golf team in high school? And I am doing baseball in gym? But I don’t want to mess up my golf swing? Does anyone know?
LIKE I DON’T MESS UP MY GOLF PLAYING CRICKET(LOL). Absolutely not, if you play both sports one will not hinder the other. The mechanics of swinging a baseball bat are very similar to those taught to golfers today and vise-versa. The biggest difference is the angle of attack since the baseball is thrown and the golf ball is stationary. The main thing is, the hardest thing to do, in both hitting baseballs and golf balls is, keeping the eyes on the ball until either the bat or golf club makes contact with the ball. Hope this helps

Image by Getty Images via Daylife Good question from a beginner:
I just began golfing and find that many of the instructional aids don’t discuss what the hands should be doing during the golf swing. My question is should I hinge my wrist towards my forearm or should they hinge towards the sky? Thanks for any help.
This is a common misconception in the golf swing.
Brian Manzella explains this the best at:

You have to sign up for the forum, its free (the forum has pictures too). But I can summarize. Alot of people hear that at address you should raise your hands and then bend your wrists straight up. This is WRONG!
Try this:
Put the club out in front of you parallel to the ground, toe of the club to the sky. Bend your wrists so that the club swings backwards, but stays parallel to the ground with the toe still facing up to the sky. THIS is the correct wrist hinge you should be after.
Took me years to find this out and once I did – I went from a 15 handicap to a 6.

There is no perfect swing, just watch the pro’s they are all slightly different, from how they start the swing to when they bring the head of the club to meet the ball and finally to their follow through. Just keep watching and practice practice practice. One key advice, eye’s stay on the ball, and don’t try to over swing,

The Perfect Golf Swing – that must be very golfer’s dream!
Imaging standing at the first tee “knowing” that your swing is so perfectly grooved every shot will be hit crisply, straight down the line.
But, if your golf is anything like mine, achieving golf swing perfection is some way off. Inconsistency is the bane of my life on the golf course and also virtually everyone I’ve ever played with!
In fact I’m convinced it is simply not possible for a human being to attain perfection! But even if it is possible to groove a perfect swing I’m afraid that human failing – the brain – will do something to sabotage it for you.
Have you ever faced an approach shot over water and told yourself that you must not think about what could go wrong only to find that water is the the only thing on your mind? Sure enough the brain focuses on something else other than your perfect golf swing! So now we have two problems – developing the perfect golf swing and dealing with the mental aspects of the game.
I started playing golf without any proper instruction and found I developed a golf swing that sort of worked for me. Although some of my shots were OK I was extremely inconsistent and couldn’t work out why.
An interesting article by David Peltz said that the subconscious human brain will force you to make a compensating swing to try and force the ball to go where it is supposed to. I’m sure you’ve witnessed some very odd looking swings from fellow golfers that are effective but are far from golf swing perfection!
My idea of a perfect golf swing is not necessarily one that looks just like the golf pros, for example I’d love to look like Tiger Woods when swinging a golf club but frankly my back wouldn’t stand the hammering! No, ideally it should look good but more importantly it will be totally effective and can be replicated every time. That way you can focus on the flight of the ball and where you want it to end up rather than the technicalities of the swing.
So instead of thinking have my wrists hinged right – too late or early, have my hips turned enough, is my head still, when am I supposed to shift my weight and a thousand other thoughts that race through your head just prior to impact you concentrate on the flight of the ball in the knowledge you already have a perfect golf swing.
If you are ready to develop a perfect golf swing for you, which will undoubtedly make you more consistent and reduce your scores then you will find the information you require in these pages. There are tips for beginners, answers to common problems and guidance from experts in creating the perfect golf swing.
